STUDIO PHILOSOPHY

Studio RODA is a Miami-based residential and commercial interior architecture and furniture design firm. Recognized for its beautiful, yet warm and functional aesthetic, the studio synthesizes eclectic styles to create dynamic and welcoming spaces. Each boasts a subtly provocative appeal and unexpected details — a signature mix that reflects founder Rodrigo Albir’s worldly roots.

His diverse influences span design eras, from Mid-Century Modern to French Art Deco to contemporary; disciplines, including architecture, design and fashion; and materials, which extend from raw to polished.

The studio’s projects combine this curated lens with a site’s unique context and each client’s precise desires, resulting in harmonious bespoke designs for personal residences, superior hospitality and retail. Though wholly distinct, the studio’s creations share a subtle, casual elegance underscored by quality, craftsmanship and understated glamour that champions comfort and promotes an inviting ambiance. From custom lighting to considered layouts, Albir draws on his interdisciplinary expertise to conceive the original composition of every project, down to the finest detail.

“ALBIR’S CREATIONS SHARE A CASUAL ELEGANCE UNDERSCORED BY PREMIER CRAFTSMANSHIP, EXCEPTIONAL MATERIALS AND UNDERSTATED GLAMOUR.”

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Rodrigo Albir is an interior architect and furniture designer with wide-ranging international experience. Prior to founding Studio RODA in Miami, he collaborated with the world-renowned New York-based design firms Yabu Pushelburg and Studio Sofield on a variety of superior hospitality and luxury retail projects.

Albir’s singular creative vision stems from a lifelong passion for design — spanning everything from architecture to fashion — that comprises his childhood spent in Honduras. The quality craftsmanship found in these locales, such as traditional Honduran woodworking, continues to inform Albir’s work. Along with appreciating the malleability, warmth and versatility of wood, which — with its various tones and grains — offers a tactile warmth that can be traced through specific styles and eras, he values the way in which the natural material reveals the craftsman’s hand via tool grooves, carving techniques and textures.

Similarly, his design training at Pratt Institute and his admiration of diverse creative luminaries, ranging from Bauhaus and Donald Judd to Louis Kahn and Yves Saint Laurent, add complex nuance to his work. Collectively, these inspirations shape an ever-evolving, boundary-pushing approach to spatial exploration that defines Albir as an industry tastemaker.
