MARQUEZ ART PROJECTS

Marquez Art Projects is a private Miami art gallery open to the public, thoughtfully designed to showcase a striking contemporary art collection within a minimalist, modern environment. The challenge was to craft a space that balances functionality and luxury, all while keeping the spotlight firmly on the artwork itself. The entire interior was renovated with a restrained palette to complement the vibrant, ever-changing exhibits. Polished concrete floors set a clean, industrial tone, while whitewashed plywood is used throughout for all interior details. Inspired by the work of minimalist artist Donald Judd, the plywood banding is deliberately left exposed, celebrating its natural texture and craftsmanship. This creates a subtle warmth that contrasts beautifully with the crisp white architecture, ensuring the gallery feels inviting without detracting from the artwork. Each architectural detail, from window portals to benches, is built from the same material, creating a cohesive, understated backdrop. This consistency reinforces a sense of harmony throughout the space, letting the art stand out naturally and highlighting the gallery’s character as a thoughtful, contemporary art destination in Miami. Functionality was key in this luxury renovation. Because Marquez Art Projects is a public gallery, the design needed to be both sculptural and durable. The furniture and interior details are carefully selected to be robust enough for public use while maintaining a refined, modern aesthetic.
