Inside Miami’s One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid, Studio RODA transformed a high-rise apartment into a tailored extension of the client’s previous home. Without altering the architecture, the team focused on custom millwork, material continuity, and adaptive reuse of existing furniture to create a seamless transition for long-time clients. Rich walnut paneling, open-pore lacquer finishes, and custom cabinetry ground the space in tactile sophistication. Key pieces, like a wall unit with integrated bookcases, were reimagined to include Griotte Grigio Carnico stone details, introducing weight and contrast in the living and dining room areas. The aesthetic leans toward mid-century with clean lines, masculine tones, and layered textures that evoke both comfort and precision. The kitchen maintains a minimalist feel, enhanced by refined finishes that match the overall palette. In the bedroom, a bespoke walnut bed integrates a sculptural stone nightstand, crafted from leftover materials, proving that functionality and contemporary design can coexist within a highly curated envelope. Subtle asymmetries, luxurious materials, and restrained forms define the project’s tone. The result is a sophisticated, modern apartment that balances practicality with a quietly luxurious presence, an embodiment of elevated Miami living.
